Pastel Workshop at Marmo
Description
Join local artist Annie Jones for a hands-on exploration of pastels! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll learn the fundamentals of pastel painting through an engaging talk and demonstration, followed by time to create your own still-life composition. Annie will guide you through the unique qualities of pastels, from layering and blending to color harmony and texture, helping you discover the joy of this expressive medium.
All materials are included, including a matte for easy framing, so you can take home a finished piece ready to display.
Annie Jones was born and raised in Leavenworth, Washington, a small town surrounded by mountains, rivers, and orchards. This instilled a love and appreciation of nature that is with her today. Her first foray into art was in the medium of oil paintings. She utilized this medium for many years, creating landscapes of the areas surrounding her. It wasn’t until after her retirement in education that she was truly able to devote herself full-time to her artistic interests. Twenty plus years ago she had a chance encounter with soft pastels and has never looked back. She realized that pastels gave her the tools to paint the world the way she sees it, with her vision. Annie has entered her art in local, national, and international shows. In 2021 she became an associate member of the Pastel Society of America. She eventually combined her passion with her background in education and now teaches pastels to others. She is never done learning and continues to experiment and grow. At the same time, she is fond of reminding herself and others that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be perfect.
