This guided outing introduces participants to the Garry oak ecosystem and the role these iconic trees play in the landscape. Along the way\, local photographer Leslie Coulter will share tips for capturing nature photographs while we walk among the magnificent oaks of Bayshore. Whether you're interested in learning about native oaks\, improving your nature photography\, or simply enjoying time outdoors\, this is a great way to learn something new while spending time with community. No photography experience is needed beginners are welcome. Meet at the kiosk No parking pass or RSVP required What to Expect - Learn about the Garry oak ecosystem and the role these trees play at Bayshore Preserve - A slow-paced walk on mostly flat trails made up of compact gravel and dirt - Informal tips and tricks for taking nature photographs while we explore the preserve - Opportunities to ask questions and observe the landscape more closely - An ADA-compliant portable toilet available near the kiosk - Limited shade in some areas of the preserve What to Bring - Sturdy walking shoes - A water bottle - A camera or phone for taking photos (optional) A Note About Parking Overflow parking will be open for event participants at 9:30 am. Please allow a few extra minutes to park and walk to the kiosk so the group can begin together at 10:00 am. About Second Saturdays Second Saturdays is a free monthly event series held at Bayshore Preserve from April November. Each month focuses on a different nature topic and offers a welcoming way for people of all ages to learn\, explore\, and connect with the outdoors and with community.
