SUMMARY:Second Saturdays at Bayshore: Wildlife Tracks & Signs
DESCRIPTION:Join Capitol Land Trust for Second Saturdays at Bayshore Preserve as we explore the hidden stories wildlife leave behind. This guided outing\, led by Firecraft Northwest\, focuses on developing observation skills to notice clues left behind in the landscape such as tracks\, scat\, and other signs of animal activity. As we move slowly through the preserve\, we'll pause often to look closely at what we find and consider which animals may have passed through. Whether you're new to tracking or simply curious about the wildlife around you\, this is a great way to see the landscape from a new perspective while spending time outdoors with community. No prior experience needed beginners are welcome. Meet at the kiosk No parking pass or RSVP required What to Expect - Learn how to identify wildlife tracks and signs in the landscape - A slow-paced walk on mostly flat trails made up of compact gravel and dirt - Frequent stops to observe and discuss tracks\, scat\, and other signs of animal activity - Guidance from Firecraft Northwest on tracking and observation skills - An ADA-compliant portable toilet available near the kiosk - Limited shade in some areas of the preserve What to Bring - Sturdy walking shoes - A water bottle - Weather-appropriate clothing for fall conditions A Note About Parking Overflow parking will be open for event participants at 9:30 am. Please allow a few extra minutes to park and walk to the kiosk so the group can begin together at 10:00 am. About Second Saturdays Second Saturdays is a free monthly event series held at Bayshore Preserve from April November. Each month focuses on a different nature topic and offers a welcoming way for people of all ages to learn\, explore\, and connect with the outdoors and with community.
