DESCRIPTION:Join Capitol Land Trust for Second Saturdays at Bayshore Preserve as we explore the prairie plants and pollinators that call this place home. This guided outing introduces participants to the unique prairie habitat at Bayshore Preserve and the many pollinators that depend on it. Along the way\, you'll hear from several knowledgeable guides\, including ecologist Dave Peter\, longtime volunteer and prairie steward Tom Terry\, and pollinator expert Audrey Mechtenberg\, who will share insights about native bees and bring samples for observation. Whether you're curious about prairie plants\, interested in pollinators\, or simply looking for a chance to learn outdoors\, this is a great way to discover more about the natural world while spending time with community. Meet at the kiosk No parking pass or RSVP required What to Expect - Learn about prairie plants and the pollinators that rely on them - A slow-paced walk on mostly flat trails made up of compact gravel and dirt - Opportunities to observe pollinators and learn about native bees - Insights from local experts and stewards of Bayshore's prairie habitat - An ADA-compliant portable toilet available near the kiosk - Limited shade in some areas of the preserve What to Bring - Sturdy walking shoes - A water bottle - Sun protection such as a hat\, sunglasses\, and sunscreen A Note About Parking Overflow parking will be open for event participants at 9:30 am. Please allow a few extra minutes to park and walk to the kiosk so the group can begin together at 10:00 am. About Second Saturdays Second Saturdays is a free monthly event series held at Bayshore Preserve from April November. Each month focuses on a different nature topic and offers a welcoming way for people of all ages to learn\, explore\, and connect with the outdoors and with community.
